Tisdagsfilm: The Blind Side
I tisdags såg vi filmen "The Blind Side". Sandra Bullock fick en oscar för bästa kvinnliga huvudroll, så trots att det var en sport film (som vi annars brukar dissa) kände vi att den nog skulle vara sevärd. Filmen som är baserad på en verklig historia handlar om Michael Oher, en hemlös pojke traumatiserad pojke som tas hand om av en familj och blir en duktig amerikansk fotbollsspelare.

Based on the true story of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy who take in a homeless teenage African-American, Michael "Big Mike" Oher. Michael has no idea who is father is and his mother is a crack head. Michael has had little formal education and few skills to help him learn. Leigh Anne soon takes charge however, as is her nature, ensuring that the young man has every opportunity to succeed. When he expresses an interest in football, she goes all out to help him, including giving the coach a few ideas on how best to use Michael's skills. They not only provide him with a loving home, but hire a tutor to help him improve his grades to the point where he would qualify for an NCAA Division I athletic scholarship. Michael Oher was the first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2009 NFL draft.

Eftersom filmen var baserad på en verklig historia var den inte så förutsägbar som en film kan vara (Som att allting går bra fram till en viss punkt sen måste det skita sig för att sen bli bra igen). Filmen bjöd på många skratt men också snyft stunder. Skådespelet var som förväntat på top och Sandra Bullock gjorde verkligen en riktigt bra prestation. Även om man "visste" hur det skulle sluta höll filmen mitt intresse hela vägen igenom. Filmen är definitivt sevärd och jag kan tänka mig att se den en gång till. Så missa inte att se The Blind Side!!!

Tisdagsfilm: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Igår såg vi tisdagsfilm som det ska vara. Men filmen Simon hade valt var ingen höjdare direkt.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus är gjord (skriven och regiserad) av Terry Gilliam känd från Monty Python och har man sett någon av deras filmen känner man igen stilen lite. Det är också Heath Ledgers sista film, då han dog under inspelningen. Detta har man dock lyckats lösa finurligt genom att Heath får ett annat ansikte i den imagionära världen.

In London, the sideshow troupe of Doctor Parnassus promises to the audiences a journey to the "Imaginarium", an imaginary world commanded by the mind of Doctor Parnassus where dreams come true.
In the stories that Doctor Parnassus tells to his daughter Valentina, to the midget Percy, and his assistant Anton, he claims to have more than one thousand years; however, when he felt in love for a mortal, he made a deal with the devil Mr. Nick trading his immortality per youth. As part of the bargain, he promised his first born child to Mr. Nick on the sixteenth birthday. Valentina now is almost in the doomed age and Doctor Parnassus bets with Mr. Nick that whoever seduces five souls in the Imaginarium will have Valentina as a prize.
Meanwhile the troupe rescues Tony that was hanged on a bridge by the Russians that explains why he had been chased and he joins the group. Tony and Valentina fall in love for each other and the jealous Anton discovers that his competitor is a liar.
Historien är väl egentligen inte så dålig, men filmen kändes väldigt yr och det tog lite tid innan man kom in i historien om man ens gjorde det. Kanske passar filmen bättre för barn som kan leva sig in i fantasins värld. Kändes som jag satt som en åskadare och inte riktigt förstod vad filmen ville förmedla... Men såhär i efterhand när det har sjunkit in måste jag säga att filmen är helt okej, men det är inget jag kommer se igen. Kanske passar att slötitta på en söndag??
